1978 was the first year for the 928. Porsche produced the 928 until to 1994. Over the years, the 928 was produced with a wide variety of upgrades and modifications. Some people enjoy these cars for the great touring car they are. This car was optioned out with every option available in 1988. The 928 came standard with the 5.0 V8, rated at 316 horse power. Other standard features on this car includes automatic transmission, rear wheel drive, ABS, power steering, rear defrost, full power windows and locks, air conditioning, tilt, and an AM/FM cassette radio. This car was further optioned out with cruise control, dual power seats, full leather, and a sunroof. At some point the previous owner installed BBS rims and an Alpine alarm.
The rarity of this car comes from the condition it is in as well as two other factors. The original owner optioned it out in a rare color combination; Cassirot Metallic over burgundy. You do not see many 928s in this color. The other factor is when it was produced. According to the VIN this was the 1000 928 S4 produced in 1988. Was this a special order vehicle? It would take some reasearch to find out.
The car is very clean in and out. There are no indications of prior accidents. The vehicle does have paintwork on the left door and ¼. The paintwork shows great. The car does not have replaced body panels, bent / damaged core support, or frame damage. Drive away in confidence, knowing you are buying a quality vehicle. Please look at the 50+ additional photos to really appreciate how nice a car this is. You will be hard pressed to find another one in this rare color, in this condition, with lower miles.
This car is an ideal car to drive for years and rack up the miles or save and make a good return on your investment. These cars are coveted by many people. This low mile 928 has been well cared for. The car is in very nice condition inside and out. It’s not perfect, but it is a nice, clean, honest car. It has been inspected by my mechanic, who specializes in highline vehicles. During the inspection, I spent over $650 on service. This included a new window regulator and converting the car to r134a. I will disclose the few issues they found that I did not fix.
Here are the few minor flaws:
1. Paint chipping on BBS wheels.
2. Power mirror switch does not work
3. Slight bolster wear on driver’s seat
4. Sub-woofer cover on driver’s side door panel missing
5. A few very minor cracks are on the defroster vents on the dash
6. The digital clock does not keep correct time
7. The trunk carpet has one hole
8. The aftermarket alarm does not work
9. One high beam head light is out
That’s it. The car runs and drives well. I’ll still describe the rest of the car below.
The interior is like new. The pictures do not do the car justice. Nothing is broken, damaged or torn. All of the seats show great. All of the options work and the radio plays fine. The A/C now blows ice cold after the servicing. The carpet is very clean and the hatch area has not been abused.
The outside of the car shows well. The body panels are straight and free of major dings, scratches, or damage. The paint is shiny and glossy. Check out the close up pictures.
This Porsche drives well. Mechanical the car idles, handles, brakes, and shifts fine. It accelerates very fast and looks like it should not need anything major. The tires have 50% tread or less on them.
Unfortuenatly I do not have books and records for the vehicle. The belts are not the originals and have been changed at some point. I've been told, even though they look ok, they should be replaced again. They may last ten more years or six months.
I’ve been driving the car over the past couple of weeks and just love it. I get asked about this car by more people than any other vehicle I’ve driven over the past year or two. The miles may be a little higher at the end of the auction. This car is so nice that it would be the perfect car to use as a daily driver for the next 15 to 20 years. It can be driven sparingly and saved as a fun investment.
Due to the age, no warranty is given with this vehicle. It is sold AS-IS with a miles exempt title.
